Our Policy on the Equality of Gymnasts' Oppurtunites
Jersey Gymnastics Club is committed to maintaining high standards of conduct through the principles of impartiality and good ethical and moral frameworks by:- Encouraging individuals from all communities to become involved in all levels of participation from coaching to committee members.
- Ensuring that all coaches, committee members and club members adhere to the following equity principles:
- All persons must respect the rights, dignity and worth of every human being.
- All individuals must be treated fairly and equally regardless of age, gender, ethnic origin, religion, political persuasion or disability.
- Equity must permeate throughout strategic and development plans.
The equality policy is enforced through the discipline procedures that are also in place to enforce the Club's Codes of Conduct.
Our Policy on the Protection of our Gymnasts
Jersey Gymnastics Club strives to ensure that children and vulnerable adults are protected and safe from harm whilst participating in gymnastics classes. We endeavour to promote the highest standards of care for all our participants and accept responsibility for:- The care of all children, members and vulnerable adults whilst they are on the premises.
- Training a staff member for the role of 'Welfare Officer'.
- Ensuring the designated Welfare Officer's areavailable as a confidential and accessible route for people to voice their concerns or allegations regarding issues of protectionand welfare. Dealing with all issues of protection and welfare sensitively, swiftly and confidentially.
- Operating a strict Coaches Code of Conduct and disciplinary procedure.
- Carefully recruiting coaches and ensuring that they hold both valid training qualifications, and a certificate from the criminal records bureau indicating their suitability to work with children.
- Promoting and encouraging the on-going training and development of all coaches both through the British Gymnastics Coaching Schemes and Club-training schemes.
- Ensuring that situations do not arise where in a child is left alone and unobserved with a coach/adult on the premises, or during travel to competitions.
- Making sure that where possible all children work in small groups or with other coaches and that when a child leaves the gym for toilets that are out off site that they are accompanied by another child.
- When transportation is needed to displays/competitions that gymnasts travel two or more together, where this is not possible that the child will not travel unless with express permission of the parent/guardian.
- British Gymnastics Child Protection Procedures [Health and Safety]. Any person wishing to engage in photography, filming or videoing at any session must request the permission of the coach in charge that day.
Every member is asked to sign a form for permission for the Club to take photographs which may be used on the Club's website and for promotional media purposes.
